Our business started as tavern for the fisherman in the cove of Tamariu. Leonor our great grandmother was the founding spirit; from ingredients she had readily available, including fish that her husband (a fisherman himself) caught, she prepared fish and rice casserole for people coming down to the seaside from Palafrugell, as well as many workers in the local cork industry, who at the time were able to afford a day out at the beach.


Then, as people from more distant Barcelona began to visit Tamariu, plans were made involving the children of the family, especially Candida, (and many will be more familiar with the name "Ca la Candida" rather than  the Hotel Tamariu) to satisfy the demand for accommodation, even if  initially rudimentary, but always with the additional benefit of a warm welcome to their customers.


Since the late twenties and early thirties, and until recently, three generations of the same family have been at the forefront of the business. Today the fourth generation, are responsible for the smooth running of the business, ensure that the initial warmth of welcome is maintained and that guests feel at home in the hotel.


Being the oldest hotel in Tamariu and one of the oldest of on the popular Costa Brava, we have seen many changes in the nature of our clientele, but we have always tried to adapt our service to the demands of the times, whilst of course retaining the special character and warmth of our welcome.
